The 37th annual Chile Pepper Challenge, El Paso area’s biggest cycling event, offers rides of 10, 25, 40, 61 and 100 miles Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, all beginning and ending at Grace Gardens, 6701 Westside Drive.
The event is sponsored by El Paso Bicycle Club. All proceeds will benefit local charities.
The rides follow the popular cycling routes of the El Paso’s Upper Valley and the Mesilla Valley of southern Doña Ana County, extending as far as Mesilla, N.M. These scenic routes include chile and cotton fields, pecan orchards and historic communities along NM 28.
The rides begin with the 100-mile event at 7 a.m. The 61-mile event begins at 8 a.m. The 40-mile ride begins at 8:30 a.m. and goes to Vado, La Mesa and back. The 25-mile ride begins at 9 a.m. and goes to O’Hara Road and back. The 10-mile fun ride begins at 9:30 a.m.
